The Minnesota Twins had their home opener Thursday afternoon. Here’s what fans had to say about the Twins.
“It’s that energy,” Mark Simpson said. “It’s a new season. There’s a little more optimism. It’s exciting.”
“Yeah, I’m pretty hyped,” Andrew Shay said. “We will see how it goes.”
“Nah, I’m hoping for fun,” Sam Larson said. “That’s it.”
The Twins are off to a slow start after losing four of their first six games, but that didn’t stop over 36,000 people from attending the game.
“It’s early so you never know what’s gonna happen, but it’s good just to be out,” Shay said. “See everyone back in the stadium, walking around and the music is going and everything is feeling pretty good.”
Before the game, fans gave predictions on how the Twins’ season would go.
“Hopefully better than the first six games,” Derek Badger said.
“Plus 85 wins probably,” Larson said. “That’s what I’m guessing.”
“You know it’s hard to tell, somebody asked me on my way over here what do I think and I’m like I never know,” Simpson said.” Like they had a rough start, but I’m an optimist. Hopefully, they are gonna be pretty good, but you just never know.”
Hopefully we win some more games. I want to get into the playoffs,” Drake Garberg said. “It’s not looking so good right now but hopefully we can get there.”
The Twins got off to a hot start with Matt Wallner and Bryon Buxton scoring in the first inning.
But the Astros quickly tied the game with Christian Walker and Jeremy Peña hitting back-to-back home runs in the second.
The Astros took the lead in the fourth after a single by Brendan Rodgers brought home Christian Walker and Victor Caratini.
The Twins would end up losing the game five to two in favor of the Astros. The loss puts the Twins at the bottom of the American League Central with a 2-5 record.
The Twins will play the Houston Astros again on Saturday and Sunday both at 1 P.M.
