by The University of Minnesota’s Spring Jam is Saturday so I wanted to see if students were going and how they were feeling about the event this year.
“I probably won’t be able to go,” University of Minnesota student EZ said.
“Yes, I am,” UMN student Aleide Achenbach said.
“No, I am not,” UMN student Dakarai Brewer said.
I’m likely not,” UMN student Akilah Nguyen said.
A variety of responses for a variety of reasons.
“It’s not quite my cup of tea,” EZ said.
“Maybe more advertising cause lowkey I haven’t heard a lot about it,” Brewer said.
“My friend went last year and she was like oh my god there’s rides, we should go,” Achenbach said.
The University of Minnesota is hosting Spring Jam here at Lot 37 on Saturday at 4 P.M. The cars behind me will be replaced for food venders, amusement park rides and a live stage for music.
On that stage, Spring Jam is having Dizzy Fae, Mad Tsai and Beach Weather.
Along with the professional artists, Spring Jam is finishing the Battle of the Bands competition with Honey Tree, Clean Plate Club, Virgo, Tin Whiskers and Homunculus Rex all competing against each other.
Homunculus Rex has been looking forward to this performance for months.
“We’ve actually been looking forward to this for a while,” Homunculus Rex member Jack Bester said. “This has been the gig that has been kinda way off in the distance for us. Like the target gig, like everything we’ve been playing for the last I don’t know how many months.”
“The idea of competition doesn’t always sit well with me personally, but being able to experience all the different soundscapes people have to offer is a really unique thing,” Band member Lincoln Saxton said.
“It is weird being like yo that was a killer set dude, I hope ours is better,” Band member Alec Gullerude said.
“I’m excited to hear all the groups that we haven’t played with,” Band member Sam Weld said. “We did some research, we looked them up a little bit and was like we I’m impressed. We’re screwed.”
