Vacation planning through artificial intelligence

AI technology has become more user-friendly in recent years. On campus, some students are turning to artificial intelligence to plan their spring break adventures.

Truman Dick, a senior at the Carlson School of Management, relies on ChatGPT, asking specific questions to help plan his upcoming trip to Puerto Rico.

Dick mentioned, “Kind of going from past trips, I use it to plan my trip to Europe and I got some good insights.”

Alok Gupta, currently serving as a senior associate dean of faculty at the Carlson School of Management, focuses on researching human AI collaboration. He shares that to leverage AI effectively for your next trip, “You have to become better at asking questions.”

Regarding reliability, Dr. Gupta stated, “You can think of it as the wisdom of the crowd… It’s the experiences of lots and lots of people.”

While this can be a time-saver in the long run, he also advises, “Use these technologies purposefully.”

Forbes has published a list of AI tools to look out for in 2024, alongside ChatGPT, as well as more information weighing the pros and cons of this practice.
